I just finished "Oprah: A Biography" by Kitty Kelley. Like I said in my review, not too many shocking reveals (that I didn't already know ... me with my inordinate amount of entertainment trivia) but it still was an OK read. If you're in an Oprah bashing mood, give this book a go. It's like a bunch of angry girlfriends gossiping about someone. It is definitely not an Oprah Love Fest.
Now I'm reading the much anticipated and highly recommended "The Red Tent" by Anita Diamant. Yup. I've finally started it. I'm only on page 30 but so far so good.
After that ... who knows. I have a mystery as well as a chick lit to read.

I hope you LOVE the red tent, it is a fantastic book, really great! I am currently reading a Jasper Fforde book called Shades of Grey. He wrote a really great series starting with the Eyre Affair. It is a satirical book that pokes fun at characters from the classics, be prepeared to be a little confused when you first read him, he's an aquired taste, but really good if you like quirky, dark humour. I also just re-read the hunger games and catching fire in anticipation of the 3rd books' release in August, that was one hell of a series, I totally loved it. Could not stop thinking about it the first time I read it.
ReplyDeleteWell, with my recent back injury, I was able to get in a fair amount of reading. I (finally) finished Gabaldon's "Echo in the Bone" (yah!), started and finished Alice Eve Cohen's, "What I Thought I Knew" and The Book of Negroes (and I hate to say this, I enjoyed it, but didn't love it. Too much anticipation I think). Now, I'm on to The Endless Forest. I'm so glad the story has finally gone back to Paradise, except that I've forgotten many of the characters and their story's. Next up, with the help of Lizzie Lou will be the latest in the House of Night series.
ReplyDeleteI just finished "The Red Tent". I enjoyed it, maybe because I just had a baby. I liked the female perspective on the bible story that is so familiar. Just proves women should have written the Bible. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm more than half way through Red Tent and I'm liking it. Like Kym, I love that it's from women's perspectives and wonder what the Bible would have been like had it been written by women. Hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteI just finished "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas". I loved it!!! It was interesting to hear the story told from the perspective of a completely innocent 9 year old German boy. It was a quick read for me...knocked it off in 3 hours. It kept me completely entranced. Highly recommended read.

ReplyDeleteI actually just picked up "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" from the library. I think I put it on hold when you told me about the book (I hadn't realized it was a young adult book). I'm looking forward to reading it. Apparently it's a movie too.
I am not reading anything to light right now.I am reading Simon Wiensenthal's The Sunflower On The Possiblities and Limits Of Forgiveness.You are a prisoner in a concentration camp.A dying Nazi soldier asks you for forgiveness.What would you do?I know what Simon Wiensenthal did and thier are answers from other's in the book to the same question.As for me it's still a question l am struggling to answer for myself.It's one of those books that has had a impact on me more that l thought it would.

I just finished "The Forgotten Garden" by Kate Morton. Great book! 3 stories in one, written in a past, past, present format. A very fulfilling book!
