This past week I read and finished "The Girl in the Garden" by Kamala Nair. It was an interesting read. I'll be posting a review of this book once I get my head around what I want to write. It was good but not amazing.
I'm currently reading "Before I Go To Sleep" which is the much talked about book by S.J Watson. I've heard a lot of hype surrounding this book which is about a woman who has a very rare form of amnesia where she can only hold memories for one day. It's pegged as a suspenseful read. So far I'm about 100 pages into it and it's good but I'm hoping the momentum (and suspense) picks up.
Next? I'm not sure. I have a book about Madame Tussaud by Michelle Moran that I have borrowed from the library but I also have a tonne of ebooks on my Kindle.

I just finished Sarah's Key. M.U.S.T. Read!!! Now started Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin. She's one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteCassie -- if you loved "Sarah's Key" check out "Sophia's Secret" (it's called "Winter Sea" in all countries except the USA). It's by Canadian author Susanna Kearsley and it's amazing! I'm so glad you enjoyed Sarah's Key!
ReplyDeleteI have read several Emily Giffin books in years past. I should re-read "Something Borrowed" and "Something Blue". She's a good author. :)
I'm still reading The Game of Thrones. I'm part way through the third book and I literally can't put it down. I'm staying up too late to find out what happens next, and turning my e-reader on immediately once I get up in the morning. I love the characters in this story...even the villains. And last night i just about woke my hubby up when someone died who I wasn't expecting. I was angry!

I have finished two books since last Wednesday:
ReplyDelete1) Lunch in Paris by Elizabeth Bard, a memoir about an American woman who falls in love with a Frenchman and decides to pick up her life and move to Paris to be with him. I loved learning about the differences between the French and the American way of life. And it's full of some delicious-sounding recipes.
2) Smokin' Seventeen by Janet Evanovich, the latest book in the Stephanie Plum series. More of the same "who will Stephanie pick?" which is getting a wee bit tiresome (Pick Ranger already!) but made for a quick and fun read, especially since there was lots of Grandma Mazur and Lula in the book.
Now I'm reading Groundswell by Katie Lee (ex-wife of Billy Joel). It's surprisingly good. It's about a woman who falls in love and marries a famous actor and then catches him cheating on her. I'm about halfway done. The perfect book for a day at the beach!
Next I'll likely try the latest Mary Higgins Clark: "I'll Walk Alone". I had given up on her books but several customers told me that this one is much better than the last few so I'm going to give it a shot.
I read the Madame Tussaud book and liked it very much. I am currently finishing up Alice LaPlante's Turn of the Mind, which I have found to be fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Thirteen Reasons Why based on a recommendation from a friend. It's good, different, but I'm not as hooked as I thought I'd be. Don't know what I'll read next, maybe another young adult book that I got at Borders- The Summer I Turned Pretty.

I am reading An Underground Life:Memoirs Of A Gay Jew In Nazi Berlin. By Gad Beck.The fact this man lived through the war to tell his story years later was no small feat.Being a jew was bad enough but gay?Hitler really wanted you dead.Good book half way done a bit dry at times,but interesting none the less.
