Vera Wong is a sixty-year-young owner of a small struggling tea shop in San Francisco. A widow and mother of a Gen Z son, Vera excels at knowing everything about tea, sticking to her strict schedule that begins at 4:30am and pushing her opinions on others, particularly her son Tilly.
This was a delightful, light mystery and I loved Vera from the start. She loves fiercely and is very determined, but things don't look good for her struggling business, especially when she finds a dead body in her shop. The deceased is clutching a flash drive which she, obviously takes since she's knows she could solve the crime better than the police who don't even suspect foul play! Vera knows what's best and using new-fangled tech like 'the Google' and 'the Tiktok', she starts her own investigation.
Narration: Eunice Wong was ahmazing! I'll be adding her to my fav narrator list!
Filled with humour, a memorable main character who is delightfully meddling and a solid mystery, readers (and Vera) are given a handful of potential culprits to keep everyone guessing.
This is a great start for this series and I look forward to listening to the next book soon.
