Title: "I'll Scream Later"
Author: Marlee Matlin
Type: Autobiography
Pages: 323
Synopsis: This is the autobiography of Deaf actress Marlee Matlin.
My thoughts: I knew quite a bit about her life before reading this book but it did enlighten me to more of her life before she became famous in "Children of a Lesser God". I did enjoy learning how she dealt with some of the backlash from the Deaf community since I had heard about that happening over the years as well as her reasoning behind some of her decisions.
While I did find this book interesting I found the writing too simple for my tastes. It felt like I was reading a diary or the writings of a teenage girl. It was full of her rhyming off what famous people she's met and what she had done in her career -- that being said it didn't come off as a brag-fest (a la Oprah) but after awhile it became a bit monotonous. I had to push myself to finish the last half of the book unfortunately.
My Rating: 2.5/5 (aka OK read but glad I didn't buy it)
