Roasting in Hell's Kitchen: Temper Tantrums, F-words and the Pursuit of Perfection

Title: "Roasting in Hell's Kitchen: Temper Tantrums, F-words and the Pursuit of Perfection"

Author: Gordon Ramsay

Type: Autobiography

Book Type: Hardcover

# of pages: 288 pages

Synopsis: One of the world's most famous—and infamous—chefs tells the inside story of his life: his difficult childhood, his father's alcoholism and violence, his brother's heroin addiction, his short soccer career, and his amazing achievements in his pursuit of gastronomic perfection. All of these things have helped him to become the culinary talent and media powerhouse that he is today.

My thoughts:
This was a good read. For those people who watch Ramsay on "Hell's Kitchen" they only know of the very blunt, arrogant man with the mouth like an angry sailor. But this book sheds light on the reasons behind his hard exterior -- from his hellish childhood, to working his butt off in European kitchens (starting as a dishwasher) to become one of the most respected chefs today (even without any formal training). You can understand why he gets angry when he sees people not taking his advice or the great opportunity that his show gives young chefs (although I probably wouldn't refer to a young chef as a 'F-ing Cow!" in order to motivate them lol).

The books also focuses a bit on Ramsay as a family man (he's the father of 5 young children). Even if you're not a fan of his f-bombs on screen I think that after reading about where he's come from it may change quite a few views of this infamous chef.

My Rating: 3.5/5 (aka good read)
