Siblings Without Rivalry

Title: "Siblings Without Rivalry: How to Help Your Children Live Together so You Can Too

Authors: Elaine Mazlish & Adele Faber

Type: Parenting

Pages: 207

Synopsis: This book sheds light on sibling rivalry and states that the rivalry is to be expected between siblings. But that doesn't mean that we, as parents, just sit back and let it happen. This book gives parents practical, easy advice to use with our children when conflicts arise. It teaches how to empower our kids to solve their conflicts on their own; shows us how we put our kids into unhealthy 'roles' and often increase the conflict between our kids without even knowing it.

My Thoughts: This is a very easy to read and enjoyable parenting book. It is well written with easy-to-use advice for parents. It focuses on actively listening to our kids. It's easy to relate to the examples given and I love how the advice maintains the dignity of the parents and the child. I also love how it states for parents to stop being fair (something I've already started to do with our 3 kids) and instead focus on meeting each child's individual needs. Highly recommend it.
My Rating: 4.5/5 (aka awesome read)
