Super Easy Chocolate Macaroons

These are a Christmas favourite in our house. Use a small melon baller to make perfectly shaped small macaroons. You cannot get easier than this stove-top cookie!!

2 cups white sugar
6 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup coconut, shredded
3 cups rolled oats

Place waxed paper on a cookie sheet.

Combine sugar, cocoa, butter and milk in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil and add vanilla. Remove from heat; stir in coconut and oats. Drop by spoonfuls (or by melon baller) onto the waxed paper and chill for a few hours.

Yield: 3 dozen+

  1. This is one of my family's traditional recipe's too. I can remember Christmas' past spending many hours in the kitchen with my mom baking up yummy Christmas treats. Our recipe is slightly different than yours....1C sugar, 1C brown sugar to your 2C sugar. The rest is the same. I imagine both are equally delicious!
