What struck me about this book was that while the story has a romance (or two), its focus is quite firmly on the topics of sexual harassment and manipulation of women in the workplace. Important topics, no doubt, but they are a little heavy for a light rom-com.
I enjoyed how this book takes two secondary characters from the first book - Mack (Gavin's friend & Bromance Book Club attendee) and Liv (Thea's sister) and puts the spotlight on them this time. Through them, Adams explores the popular 'enemies to lovers' trope for an enjoyable but predictable outcome. But Liv is a hard gal to like - she is coarse, negative and prickly by nature, but her banter with Mack was spot on.
While this book lost a bit of the Bromance magic for me, I liked the themes raised and it has some solid humour, delightful snarky comments and good secondary characters - particularly the dairy-challenged Russian hockey player and sweet Rosie (and her ornery man-hating rooster).
Overall, it was nice getting back into the Nashville Bromance world again and I think this is a good addition to this (normally) light series. I'd strongly recommend reading the first book, The Bromance Book Club, to get acquainted with the characters and some of Liv's backstory. I have the third book Crazy Stupid Bromance (pub date: Oct 27, 2020) already on my Kindle and I'm looking forward to reading more shenanigans, romance and banter. Stay tuned for that review in the next week or so.

Opening Lines: Braden Mack pulled his Porsche SUV into an
empty spot at the back of the dark parking lot and waited for the signal.
Facing him from two rows down, a Suburban idled with its lights on.
Book Description from GoodReads: Braden Mack thinks reading romance novels makes him an expert in love, but he’ll soon discover that real life is better than fiction.
Liv Papandreas has a dream job as a sous chef at Nashville’s hottest restaurant. Too bad the celebrity chef owner is less than charming behind kitchen doors. After she catches him harassing a young hostess, she confronts him and gets fired. Liv vows revenge, but she’ll need assistance to take on the powerful chef.
Unfortunately, that means turning to Braden Mack. When Liv’s blackballed from the restaurant scene, the charismatic nightclub entrepreneur offers to help expose her ex-boss, but she is suspicious of his motives. He’ll need to call in reinforcements: the Bromance Book Club.
Inspired by the romantic suspense novel they’re reading, the book club assists Liv in setting up a sting operation to take down the chef. But they’re just as eager to help Mack figure out the way to Liv’s heart... even though she’s determined to squelch the sparks between them before she gets burned.
