This popular Teen read was a cute, quick listen. The story is light, uses the popular fake dating trope (one of my favs) and has a sweet feel to it as it touches lightly on a few topics.
It was an enjoyable way to spend a few hours and my favourite part was easily the bond and complex relationships between the three sisters and their dad. It's an easy-going story with great Asian representation and despite me not loving Lara Jean's name (in the audiobook it often and annoyingly came off as Large-een), she is an easy character to root for.
I was initially interested in this book due to its popularity and the premise of Lara Jean's letter writing to guys she liked, but it unfortunately wasn't as central to the plot as I had hoped. Do I plan to read the others in the series? Probably not, but it was an easy listen with a delightful family vibe, solid teenage drama, and a likeable main character. That said, it didn't quite measure up to other Teen reads that I've loved - like We Are All Made of Molecules by Susin Nielsen for its perfect combo of humour and heart.
This is a good pick if you're in the mood for something a light and sweetly cheesy Teen read with a popular Romance trope.

Book Description from GoodReads: Lara Jean keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her.
They aren't love letters that anyone else wrote for her, these are ones she's written. One for every boy she's ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she can pour out her heart and soul and say all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly Lara Jean's love life goes from imaginary to out of control.
