Just Haven't Met You Yet

Just Haven't Met You Yet
was a fun and sweet story about a young female journalist whose idea of marriage is strongly influenced by her parents' perfect love story. Wanting what her parents had, Laura is looking for her own happily ever after, but when she is sent to New Jersey on a work assignment, her luggage gets mixed up and she ends up with the suitcase of a man who appears to be her soul mate.

I listened to this eAudiobook on my way to Boston last week and found it to be an enjoyably predictable story with poignant scenes thrown in for some feels. It won't be a story that will stay with me long, but it was entertaining, and I liked the unexpected focus on Laura's emotional journey. Unfortunately, the story plodded a bit in the middle, and I never felt fully engaged. Part of this may be due to having to suspend disbelief over some of Laura's immature decisions/actions over the course of only three days - including the insta-attachment to the stranger who owns the suitcase. But the banter was good, and the story was sweet, so overall it was a decent listen on a 10+ hour car trip.

Just Haven't Met You Yet is a good pick if you're looking for a charming story with a meet cute trope, some romance, good banter, and a bit of depth as readers follow along on one woman's journey of self-discovery in her search for love.

Book Description from GoodReadsFrom the New York Times bestselling author of This Time Next Year comes a heartwarming and hilarious tale that asks: what if you pick up the wrong suitcase in an airport, only to fall head over heels for its unseen owner?

Hopeless romantic and lifestyle reporter Laura’s business trip to the Channel Islands isn’t off to a great start. After an embarrassing encounter with the most attractive man she’s ever seen in real life, she arrives at her hotel and realizes she’s grabbed the wrong suitcase from the airport. Her only consolation is its irresistible contents, each of which intrigues her more and more. The owner of this suitcase is clearly Laura’s dream man. Now, all she has to do is find him.

Besides, what are the odds that she’d find The One on the same island where her parents first met and fell in love, especially as she sets out to write an article about their romance? Commissioning surly cab driver Ted to ferry her around seems like her best bet in both tracking down the mystery suitcase owner and retracing her parents’ footsteps. But as Laura’s mystery man proves difficult to find - and as she uncovers family secrets - she may have to reimagine the life, and love, she always thought she wanted.
