The Housemaid is a twisty, fast-paced read with short chapters - which I loved! There are some good twists, but I quite easily predicted the big twist from the beginning. There is a sinister vibe, unreliable narrators and unlikeable characters abound. Some scenes gave off a strong, creepy 'Flowers in the Attic' vibe and others made me cringe a bit. These are some twisted people, y'all!
This was a quick, page-turner of a read that was predictable, but enjoyable despite its implausible ending. While I enjoyed The Housemaid, I'm not certain I'll pick up the next book The Housemaid's Secret.
Note: Aside from the good story inside the book, I have to say that the cover with its 'great price' permanent 'sticker' was a horrible decision. It makes the book look cheap and I wish publishers would stop doing it!
