Best Friends Forever

Title: Best Friends Forever

Author: Jennifer Weiner

Type: Hardcover

Pages: 359

Synopsis: Addie Downs and Val Adler have been best friends since they were 9 years old. Although they are opposites (Addie a plump, quiet introvert / Val the skinny, rash extrovert) they hit it off right away. When a high school betrayal happens between the friends they lose touch with each other. Val is swept into the popular crowd while Addie becomes taunted and the butt of jokes.

Fifteen years later, Addie is living alone, taking care of her troubled brother while Val has found some fame as a local weather reporter. After their high school reunion, Val shows up on Addie's doorstep with blood on her sleeve asking for Addie's help.

My thoughts: I have loved some of this author's previous books ("Good in Bed" and "Certain Girls") but this, unfortunately, doesn't join that group. "Best Friends Forever" started off well but didn't keep up the momentum. She hit on a few interesting points ... then didn't go more in-depth. I guess I just didn't get why these people (Jordan, Addie, Val) were thrown together in a book. The book jacket refers to this book as "a grand, hilarious, edge-of-your-seat adventure" ... but I guess I have a different idea of adventure :s
My Rating: 2.5/5 (aka not a total waste of time but not a great read either)
