Fool Me Once

This book had me from the start! With an energetic beginning, Harlan Coben's story about an ex-military pilot who witnessed her husband being murdered only to have him, months later, show up on her nanny cam with their toddler daughter.

This launches this propulsive thriller that had great twists, multiple plot lines and a great main character in Maya Stern. I loved the different sides to her - her no nonsense, tough as nails, bad-ass side, her family side and how she handles the copious amount of emotional baggage she's been carting around.

The only thing I found a bit puzzling was why this book is in a series called Detective Sami Kierce when the detective is a very tertiary character.

This is a fast-paced and engaging page-turner of a thriller full of deep, dark secrets and one hell of a shocking ending. I'm eager to read the upcoming (ten years in the making) sequel and watch the 8-episode series on Netflix soon.
