This book caught my eye the other day after its illustrator, T.L McBeth made an Instagram Reel about how this sweet and inclusive book that he illustrated was banned in the US.
Nothing burns my biscuits like a book being banned.
This book has a sweet message that challenges traditional gender roles and reminds kids that it's great when you enjoy what you like, wear what you want and generally be your amazing self! You be you and accept that others will be who they are too. How can anyone argue with that?!
Ogilvy (great name!) is a bunny with his own sense of style. When other bunnies criticize him for what he wears (is he wearing a sweater or a dress?) and what he enjoys doing, Ogilvy persists and continues to be himself.
With beautiful illustrations and a simple but beautiful message, this rhyming picture book is wonderful to read aloud to young readers. The cadence of the rhymes flows easily, and the adorable illustrations and message make it an easy way to begin a discussion with young readers about the importance of being kind, inclusive and proud to be yourself!
Note: Ogilvy has been banned in many US school districts (and according to Pen America it is among the top five most banned picture books). This is a great book for a home collection but please make sure your local library carries copies too!

Book Description from GoodReads: The clothes don't make the bunny in this new picture book from New York Times -bestselling author Deborah Underwood, illustrated by T. L. McBeth.
When Ogilvy moves to a new town, the possibilities feel endless. There are so many new bunny friends and fun things to do together! But in this town, bunnies in dresses play ball and knit socks, and bunnies in sweaters make art and climb rocks. Ogilvy wants to do everything—and won't let a sweater or a dress get in the way.
